Orientation to Online Learning - 2023
This course teaches how to 'navigate' the online learning site.
Participants learn to:
- 'navigate' their way around the Homepage
- communicate with the facilitators and other participants
- create online profiles
- use the forums for discussions and asking questions
- format easy-to-read written posts
- understand basic online 'netiquette'
- use online vocabulary of blocks and columns, collapsing and opening, posting on forums, threading Replies, messaging, Choices and blogs.
By the end of the course, the participant should feel confident about using the online learning tools to begin their course.
This orientation course is required of all accounts before moving onto other courses.
Budgeting : Developing a Financial Road Map
This course shows you the basic steps for creating a budget - your financial road map.
Two objectives of the course are:
- To become financially organized.
- To encourage you to develop a financial plan to manage household expenditures, to decrease debt and to increase savings.
Savings and Investments
Savings and Investments begins with one of the most common and important elements of the financial system – interest rates. You will learn why interest rates have always been a key barometer in determining the value of everything. You will explore the changing influence of interest rates; the impact of interest rates on consumption, investment and economic growth; and the bizarre realities of negative interest rates.
Introduction to the IELTS exam - Part I
The IELTS is divided into four parts, to represent the key aspects of learning a language: speaking, writing, listening, and reading. The scores for each test correspond with a band, numbered from 1 to 9.
The course aims to provide an overview of the 4 parts of the IELTS exam. Participants will learn an explanation of each part, see examples of the different types of question they can expect to find in each section, be able to list the language skills and strategies for each type of question and gather study tips and test tips that can help to achieve your best score.

This course is about learning to use the BBC English language site. Based on your level of English and your goals, you are the person best able to choose your path of study for improving your English language skills. However, as the site is rich with many units and topics, getting lost can be easy.
We have chosen to work with the BBC because it is a comprehensive site, internationally recognized for excellence, and it is well presented for all levels of English language study.
